What does this job entail?

Group Economics and Markets (GEM) - the economic and research department of KBC Group - provides up-to-date economic analyses and research and monitors developments in the global economy. This economic information forms the basis for strategic decisions, both within the Group and for external clients. All our activities are built on high-quality and strong teamwork. GEM is looking for a new member to strengthen its team in the KBC Group headquarters in Brussels.

What do we expect from you?

• As an economist, you will contribute to various research projects, analyses and publications in cooperation with the other economists in GEM as well as with group-wide colleagues. In general, you will contribute to the development of the KBC global economic scenario and provide quantitative input to strategic decision-making across the Group.
• A key part of your role will be the development and application of quantitative frameworks to analyse macroeconomic and financial developments. This includes state-of-the-art forecasting/nowcasting tools, scenario analysis, stress testing and the assessment of risks to the economic outlook.
• You will contribute to the continuous enhancement of GEM’s analytical toolkit and research methodologies, ensuring that our analyses remain robust and up-to-date. You will combine economic theory, empirical analysis and quantitative modeling to generate rigorous insights for internal and external stakeholders.
• You will report to the Group Chief Economist.

Votre profil :

Your key strengths?

• The position is open to candidates with a PhD in Economics, or equivalent through substantial relevant professional experience. Prior experience in the financial sector would be a plus.
• You have a strong quantitative background and demonstrated expertise in econometric modelling, forecasting techniques, scenario analysis and stress testing. Experience with advanced quantitative research methods and the analysis with large datasets is highly valued.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to translate complex quantitative insights into clear and actionable conclusions for a broad audience.
• Strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and good language skills (particularly English), are required.
